File Extension IFO

The .IFO file extension denotes many kinds of file formats, out of which three are more prominent. First one of them is known as a VMGI (Video Manager Information File), which is contained in a DVD and acts as a source of reference for the DVD Player or DVD Playing application to display corresponding scenes or tracks.

I really do love DriverCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic DriverCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.
Sylvia D. Franklin Park, San Francisco

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic DriverCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

I figured the graphics card my grandson gave me was broken when I couldn't get it work on my computer. It turns out that I just didn't have the right driver. ParetoLogic DriverCure got it workin.

More Info Regarding File Extension IFO

For opening this type of .IFO files upon a Mac OS based Apple computer, several applications are available, including Wired Widestream, Apple DVD Player and Roxio Toast. Similarly, if you want to open an .IFO file upon a Windows based PC, you will need either CyberLink PowerDVD, Roxio Easy Media Creator, WinDVD or the Nero ShowTime.

The second file type associated with the .IFO file extension is a proprietary file format developed by Cursory Arts and is used by a graphics application named ImageForge Pro. This application uses an .IFO file to contain some object layer data. As this file format is proprietary, no other external application is able to open the .IFO file successfully.

The third file type denoted by the .IFO file extension is a game module file developed by BioWare. The company had earlier brought a 2D Infinity Engine, and has now extended its offering with BioWare Aurora Game Engine, which is a 3D game engine. The BioWare engine uses the .IFO file as a part of its complete game module that consists of 18 different files. Within the module, the .IFO file contains all the vital information about the contents of the whole module. Bioware deploys a GFF format (Generic File Format) for writing all the files inside the module, including the .IFO file too. This way, all the files can be easily edited afterwards.

Apart from these three file types too, the .IFO file extension is used by a number of software applications for storing vital information necessary for proper functioning of the application. Usually these .IFO files are in plain text format and can be edited within any text editing application. Although these files don't serve any direct role within the application, they contain information vital for proper running of the application. Deleting or modifying these files might result in malfunctioning of the application.

Opening an .IFO file:
Depending upon the type of file being denoted by the .IFO file you are trying to open, you need different application to run it. If it is an .IFO file within a DVD, you can use any of the DVD playing applications described above. Alternatively, ImageFore Pro or BioWare Aurora Game Engine might also be helpful in opening the file if it pertains to any of these two applications. In general, you can try to open an .IFO file within any text editor such as Notepad, if it has been saved as a plain text file.

Problems and errors while opening an .IFO file:
While trying to attempt an .IFO file, if you encounter some problem or error, the following reasons might be responsible for it:
i. The .IFO file type might not be compatible with the application that you are trying to open it with. For example, an .IFO file created with the BioWare Aurora Game Engine can't be opened successfully with CyberLink PowerDVD.
ii. Within your computer, you might have associated the .IFO file type to be opened with a software application that is not compatible with the file format. Associating the file type with the correct application can fix the error for you.
iii. The .IFO file that you are trying to open might have been damaged or infected with a Virus. Scan the file through a capable Anti-Virus application, and you just might find the solution to your problem.
